Ahhh...beautiful, warm, sunny Cancun, Mexico! Darren and I took a long awaited vacation to Cancun with friends of ours, Dave and Heather. Last August we booked our trip and had been anxiously awaiting it ever since! We stayed five days and four nights at an all-inclusive resort called the Riu Cancun located right on the water. I would highly recommend this resort if you're planning a trip to Cancun. The place was amazing, the staff was so friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. We left Indy early Tuesday morning and were on the beach around 2pm. I ditched my watch as soon as we were checked in. It was great not being on a schedule for the better part of a week.
Most of our time during the day was spent on the beach or at the pool. We were up every morning around 7:00 and put our towels out on lounge chairs before heading to breakfast. Immediately following breakfast we hit the beach. The weather was fantastic, it only rained one night and into the morning. The ocean water was the perfect temperature too.
While we certainly didn't need to leave the resort, we did venture out a time or two to check out some local sites. We bartered with the locals at the market. They try to get you to buy everything, even going so far as to put jewelry on you and then tell you what you owe them. It was an interesting experience. Heather and I bought some jewelry, while Dave purchased cigars.
We stopped in for a drink at Carlos and Charlie's. This is a pretty neat place.
My favorite spot off the resort though was Senor Frogs. Holy cow, I could have a lot of fun here without any alcohol! I could picture me and my IU girls having a blast there!
We spent the other evenings at the resort. One night was a karaoke night. None of us participated, but it was pretty entertaining to watch. Another night there was a Michael Jackson impersonator show with back-up dancers and a multi-media presentation. It was awesome! There was a packed house with several people standing.
Other nights we relaxed in the lobby bar and were entertained by our server, Sal. Various flavors of martinis were our beverages of choice at the lobby bar.
This was a wonderful vacation! While it was tough to leave Cancun, it was good to be home again with our girls.

It's hard to believe that it has been one year already since Peyton was born. What a joy she has brought to our lives over the past year. She has gone from being a sweet, quiet, perfect little baby to a sweet, noisy, perfect little girl. Peyton has got to be one of the noisiest kids I've ever been around! She talks/squawks about everything...one of these days we'll finally understand her. Peyton's smile can melt your heart!
Did I mention that she's loud? This is typical Peyton...mouth wide open!
